An Exploratory Study of Homeless Center Workers’ Attitudes toward a Matching-savings Program for Homeless People

|
This study aims to explore the attitudes of homeless center workers in Seoul toward the possibility of savings program for homeless using Vignette method. We collected survey from 36 workers representing 36 centers. We found that workers have very positive attitudes toward the possibility of introducing a matching savings program for homeless people. In addition, they showed positive perceptions toward institutional features (e.g., incentives, access, facilitation, expectation, restriction, information and case management) of a savings program. Based on these findings, this study suggest that a matching-savings program for homeless people should be introduced in order to facilitate self-reliance and self-sufficiency of the homeless. This study concludes with policy and practice implications.
